It’s hard to believe how close the US and Canadian dollars are in value these days. If only it were that easy to manage sample rates! The one big difference with sample rates as opposed to currency, is that they are fixed and don’t change values from day to day. One big thing they have in common though is that, from time to time, you’ll find yourself in situations where you’ll need to convert them.
Logic is a great bank, and it doesn’t charge any interest. Did you know that Logic does high quality clean, simple, and easy bulk sample rate conversion?
Projects are great and easy ways to keep related files consolidated over the course of a production. There are a few different ways of creating them. When you create them from the “New” menu (as opposed to creating one from a regular song already in progress), Logic presents you with the option of converting files of a different sample rate, to the current Projects sample rate upon import.
If you think about it – this can be used as a template for bulk sample rate conversion. Set up a New Project at the destination sample rate you want. Once it is created and opened, open an Audio Window, and import all of the source files at once that you want converted. They’ll all be brought into your session, converted, and neatly placed in an accompanying Audio Files folder inside your Project Folder.
Once you are done; close your project – you don’t even need to save it – and discard everything except that Audio Files folder. You are left with the converted Audio Files ready for use wherever or whenever you need them in the new sample rate. Now, if only the banks made it that easy to convert money!
